Completing My Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling Qualification
Today marks a milestone that feels both humbling and empowering: I’ve officially passed my Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling course. This achievement represents years of learning, personal growth, and a deep commitment to supporting others through some of life’s most challenging moments.
Training as a counsellor is never just academic. It’s a journey of self-reflection, resilience, and developing the capacity to sit with people in their pain, their hope, and their healing. Level 4 has strengthened my belief in the power of safe, compassionate therapeutic spaces — and in the importance of the work counsellors do every day.
My Time at NDADA: Learning Through Real Experience
One of the most meaningful parts of my training has been my placement with North Devon Against Domestic Abuse (NDADA). Over the course of my studies, I’ve completed more than 270 hours of counselling work there — hours filled with learning, listening, and witnessing the strength of individuals rebuilding their lives after trauma.
Working with NDADA has shaped me profoundly. It has taught me:
- The importance of trauma-informed practice
- How vital it is for survivors to have a safe, consistent space to be heard
- The courage it takes for someone to reach out for support
- The role counsellors can play in helping people reclaim their sense of self
Those hours weren’t just part of my qualification — they were part of my growth as a practitioner and as a person. I’m deeply grateful for the trust clients placed in me and for the guidance and support from the NDADA team.
What This Achievement Means
Passing Level 4 represents:
- Advanced therapeutic skills grounded in ethical, client-centred practice
- A deeper understanding of trauma, relationships, and emotional wellbeing
- Professional readiness to continue developing my counselling career
- Personal transformation, shaped by real-world experience and meaningful human connection
Looking Ahead
With Level 4 complete, I’m excited to continue building my practice, expanding my knowledge, and supporting clients with empathy, integrity, and authenticity. Every hour spent learning, every moment spent with clients, and every challenge overcome has prepared me for the next step in my counselling journey.
A Thank You
To my tutors, peers, friends, family, and the incredible team at NDADA — thank you. Your support has carried me through long study days, emotional reflections, and the rewarding work of placement. And to future clients: I look forward to walking alongside you with compassion and respect.
Today, I’m celebrating not just a qualification, but the journey that brought me here — and the meaningful work still to come.
